Day one...

Dad went through day one of his chemo and radiation treatments yesterday( Monday). He did very well. Speaking to him this morning he sounded good and voice is strong. Other then being poked and prodded all day yesterday he is in good spirits. He will not be able to be in crowds or around people who are sick due to the chemo. Not much to post this week since he has just started the journey......will keep everyone updated as I get the info.

Dad is thin...

I saw dad today and he is very thin. The doctors have asked him to try and put on some weight before he has his treatments. He will return to the radiologist on Monday to make sure they have marked him correctly for the radiation therapy. I am assuming that they will do another CAT scan to make sure it is right. He said that they probably start the chemo and radiation on the 29th, both at the same time. He is still upbeat about going through all of this but I am sure he is tired of being poked and prodded. I informed him that we set up this blog and typical Don response to not having to tell people over and over the info is " I wouldn't". So dad!
Mom is still doing well, just trying to make sure dad is doing what he is suppose to do. I asked dad if he had any diet restrictions and he said no, just he needs to put on weight. So we will be baking cookies and goodies to fatten him up!
That's all that I know so far......as I get info in I will post. Have a good holiday everyone!!!

( mapped out where they will nuke him ) He will starting his full treatments on the 29th of this month. He is still in good spirits about this and is doing what the docs tell him to do. I will see him on saturday so I will update again after talking to him.
Mom is doing well for her. She is very tired and is battling a migraine. Pam and I are going to keep a close eye on mom. Sorry this post is brief but we don't have much info yet.

Don is sick......

This blog was set up so everyone can see how Don is doing without having mom or him answer questions a thousand times. Pam and I will be updating it regularly as we get the info.

What we know is that dad has lung cancer. It is located in the upper portion of the left lobe and it does include part of the bronchi tube. He will undergo chemo and radiation therapy. Today ( Tuesday ) he meets with the radiation guy to start the therapies.

Mom is doing very well, she is positive that the outcome will be a good one. The doctors think it is survivable. Dad is very upbeat about recovery. Which is good news if you all know how dad is. We love him but he can be a little grumpy at times. :)

You can post your well wishes here or if you have questions please feel free to leave them here as well. I will try to update it weekly on how dad is doing.
